My drawings are made using ink and watercolor on paper. I begin with line drawing using pencil, pen and ink. India ink wash is added for shading, then watercolors or gouache for color.

Still life drawings use everyday objects as a way to study color, pattern, shapes, texture, and contrast.

My landscape drawings are a record of travels along the California coast and national parks. Views of San Francisco capture distinctive features of the city: fog, fish, beach and Golden Gate Park.

Shape Reference drawings are made with archival color ink pens on paper in an exercise to explore forms. Black and white ink drawings focus on underlying structure and composition.

I worked primarily with ceramic sculpture from 1977 - 1987. In 2024, I resumed work on some unfinished sculptures, adding multimedia components such as carved and painted wood, and painted paper. Ceramic techniques include hand building, slip casting and wheel thrown pieces. Clay and glazes use low fire and porcelain, with underglaze, decals and luster.
